Burlap & Bean: Seeking Justice In Africa

An evening to Raise Money & Awareness with Nicole Matteucci. Check out her video and donations can be made here -- Click "Support an Intern/Fellow" and select Nicole Matteucci on the next page.

Local to Delaware County, Nicole Matteucci is heading to Africa with International Justice Mission in June. IJM is a non-profit human rights agency comprised of lawyers, social workers, and support staff dedicated to the abolition of modern day slavery. This organization deals with issues of sex trafficking, debt bondage, forced labor, and property seizure. When Nicole joins their field office in Uganda she will be dealing directly with orphans and widows affected by these atrocities.

This evening will be dedicated to supporting Nicole’s mission and to raise awareness in our community about this issue and what our generation can do to accomplish social justice. The musicians I have lined up are Talain Rayne, Leah and Michael Guaglione, Anne Collins, James Cerrato, and Kara Fisher. Annagrace Martin will perform a piece from the book "Slave Across the Street" by Theresa L. Flores, and Sarah Burgess will perform a poem by Jack Gilbert.
