In the buzzing town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory is Racing with the Clock under the management of the factory’s time keeper, Vernon Hines (Vincent Raspa), and Sleep Tite’s owner Myron Hasler (Nathan Schimmoller). But there’s more to this factory than just making night gowns; the town’s Associated Garment Workers Union is threatening to strike, unless their demands for a seven and a half cent raise are met. The newly hired factory superintendent, Sid Sorokin (William Kauffman), gets into trouble with the Grievance Committee, and its head, Babe Williams (Alyssa Myers). Sid and Babe, despite all odds, fall in love amidst rising tension between the union’s president, the aptly named Prez (Jacob Mattern), and Sleep Tite’s management. However, their love is tested when Babe spots Sid and Gladys Hotchkiss (Jessica Nichols), Hasler’s secretary, on a “date” at Hernado’s Hideaway. But Sid isn’t interested in anyone but Babe; his real intentions are to comfort Gladys over her fight with Hines and get her help ending the labor troubles. Meanwhile Mabel (Maria Maslin), Sid’s secretary, teaches Hines a valuable lesson in courting Gladys. Will Sid and Babe overcome it all? Will the Union get its seven and a half cents? Labor and love come together in Marple Newtown High School’s production of The Pajama Game. After all, nothing’s quite the same as the pajama game.
