Moonlight & Movies: 'Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel'

Newtown Township Parks & Recreation Board presents the 2011 Moonlight and Movies Series which will once again be held at Drexel Lodge Park.

It seems everywhere you turn, prices are going up, making a night out with the kids, something to think about and often, something you need to budget for.

A night under the stars, watching a movie is something memories are made of. Drexel Lodge Park is located on West Chester Pike across from Mostardi Nurseries; look for the trains.

This year, we began our Free Movie Series with Cars sponsored by Hills Quality Seafood Market. It was a beautiful evening with a slight breeze making it most enjoyable for those in attendance.

There are two additional opportunities for you to enjoy a movie in this beautiful park. Bring a blanket and/or some lawn/beach chairs to relax on. Movies begin at dusk and are held in Drexel Lodge Park’s open-air amphitheater, making star gazing an optional, extra-curricular activity.

Come early and enjoy the park! Quite often our Train Museum is open prior to a movie which is always a treat for both young and old. The following evening or Sunday, will serve as a movie’s rain date. Our movie series continues on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011–Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel and sponsored by Bryn Mawr Trust Bank.

Unlike movie theaters, we encourage you to bring your own snacks or you may purchase popcorn, candy and soft drinks for a nominal fee.
