Marple Public Library hosted a Didgeridoo-Australia show with Didg Revolution on July 26 as part of the county's summer reading program "One World, Many Stories."

"It's fantastic," said Melissa Anderson, children's assistant at the library. "It's amazing to have this kind of program."

Alam, who traveled from St. Petersburg, FL, has been a musician "all his life" but primarily a drummer and picked up the didgeridoo seven years ago after watching some "didgeridoo masters" in Tampa, FL.

From then on, Alam was so intrigued with the instrument he began taking lessons and soon–three years ago–joined his friend who started up Didg Revolution.

Alam, a full-time middle school teacher, chose to take up this opportunity touring up and down the east coast during his summer off teaching children about Australia, the didgeridoo and other friendly campaigns such as, "The Golden Rule–Kindness, Tolerance and Respect," "Bullying is not cool," and "Protect the Planet."

In addition, Alam showed off his pet lizard, Jelly Bean, an Australian blue-tongued lizard.

"For me, it's just an awesome summer," shared Alam.

By the end of the summer, Alam will travel to 11 states all across the east coast with a goal to spreading awareness about Australia's ecology and biodiversity.
