New Playground Equipment at Loomis

The Loomis Elementary PTO raised enough money last year to purchase new playground equipment.

Back to school doesn't only have to mean back to books, class and tests—at Loomis Elementary School it will also mean new playground equipment.

The Loomis Elementary PTO raised $19,000 last year to purchase new playground equipment including three new swing sets and the outgoing 5th grade class donated money to purchase the new tetherball sets.

The PTO raises funding for things like assemblies, field trip transportation, technology like smart boards and projectors, new playground equipment, carpets in the classrooms, classroom equipment and more, according to Loomis PTO parent Bretany Pilko.

Last year the PTO raised $8,000 for smartboards and a projector, which hang in the cafeteria, Pilko says, and this year, about $2,000 is needed to replace carpets in the 1st and 2nd grade classrooms.

In October, the Loomis PTO will hold its first Leopard 5K to raise even more funds for the organization and they are currently seeking sponsors for the community event.
