2013 Gym Membership Cost Roundup

Whether you plan to work off those holiday sugar cookies or you resolve to be healthier come the New Year, Patch has the hookup for those who plan on hitting the gym in 2013. Check out what these local gyms in the Marple Newtown offer and their membership rates below.

Row Zone

Benefits: Members pay based on how much they come to the gym. Rowing is not only a high-calorie burning activity, but it also works every major muscle group. Row Zone doesn't offer just rowing and has several classes.

Cost: There are a few payment methods – each monthly. Unlimited attendence costs $99 a month. Three times a week is $89 for the month. Two times a week is $79 for the month. Lastly, one class a week is $48 for the month.

Hours: This gym offers classes and personal trainers only.

Ellis Athletic Center

Benefits: It has a babysitting center, which is at no additional cost. It has a gym, locker rooms, a weight room and plenty of classes. Classes include things like zumba, cardio, yoga, spinning and pilates.

Cost: There's a $50 enrollment fee, but first three months are $19.99. The regular monthly fees are $39.99.

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

ABSolute Fitness Center

Benefits: There's a nursery. There's also locker rooms with showers. Classes like yoga, pilates, kickboxing, spinning and zumba are offered. There's also individual TVs per treadmills and elliptical machines.

Cost: Memberships are month-to-month. There's a current holiday special that includes the entire facility and classes for $29.99 a month. There's also no initiation fee.

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Northeast Fitness

Benefits: This gym is personal training only. It has weight-lifting equipment, cardio equipment and free weights.

Cost: It's $900 for 20 sessions.

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. to noon and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and it is closed on Sundays.

Sussex Fitness Center

Benefits: Sussex offers aquatics classes, yoga classes, spinning classes swim lessons, various senior classes, a Wii bowling league, step aerobics classes and has a gym.

Cost: Regular membership which includes pool and equipment is $44 a month, equipment-only membership which is $29 a month, for seniors over 65 the membership is $40 a month, equipment-only Monday through Friday after 6 and Saturday and Sunday after 12 costs $19 a month. There's also an enrollment fee of $49.

Hours: Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Planet Fitness

Benefits: Planet Fitness has a variety of equipment and offers unlimited tanning.

Cost: There's no initiation fee and monthly fees are $19.99.

Hours: Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
