Unilever has recalled pints of Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Nougat Crunch ice cream due to an undeclared peanuts or tree nuts on the ingredient label.
The labels are missing an allergen advisory, “Allergy Information: Fudge covered wafer pieces have been manufactured on shared equipment that processes peanuts and tree nuts.”
The affected product has date codes of product has date codes of
printed on the bottom of the pint.
To date, no illnesses have been reported, but people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts or tree nuts can risk an allergic reaction.
Symptoms of food allergies typically appear within a few minutes to two hours after a person has eaten a food of which he is allergic. Allergic reactions can include hives; flushed skin or rash; tingling or itchy sensation in the mouth; face, tongue or lip swelling; vomiting and/or diarrhea; cramps; coughing or wheezing; dizziness and/or lightheadeness; swelling of the throat and vocal cords; difficulty breathing; or loss of consciousness.
Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Nougat Crunch has been sold in retail stores nationwide.
