When Did you Get Started: 1986

How Did your Business Get its Start?

When I was 6 months old, my parents started a family business with my grandparents and put my name on the business. Twenty-seven years later, we are still going strong as a chocolate, candy and gift basket store.

Why Did you Choose Newtown Square for your Business' Location?

We chose Newtown Square because Hoffert's Chocolates, a candy tradition in Newtown Square for many years, had recently closed in the Spring of 1986. We felt that the tradition of a candy store in Newtown Square should continue. So we bought their candy cases and other furniture and moved into a storefront across West Chester Pike in the Fall of 1986. We've carried on the sweet tradition and the location has proven, after 27 years, to be the ideal location for our family business. 

What is Christopher Chocolates Best Known For?

We make our own chocolates, truffles and gourmet gift baskets. We also carry a full line of candies and gift items. 

What's Something Interesting about Christopher Chocolates that People May Not Know? 

Christopher's dad, David Lamparelli, is the candy maker for both businesses; Christopher Chocolates and Oh Ryan's Irish Potatoes. Christopher Chocolates is named after their eldest son Christopher and Oh Ryan's is named after Christopher's younger brother Ryan.
