Feast of the Seven Fishes: Jam-Packed Parking Lot at Hill's Quality Seafood

The day before the Italian Christmas Eve celebration of the Feast of the Seven Fishes brought out a traffic cop, traffic congestion and a jam-packed parking lot at Hill's Seafood in Newtown Square.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Perhaps busier than Thanksgiving, the parking lot at off of West Chester Pike/Route 3 in Newtown Square was jammed with people picking up their platters and dishes for Christmas Eve.

The Feast of the Seven Fishes, an Italian Christmas Eve tradition, is traditionally celebrated the night before Christmas Day with seven dishes of seafood. Locals celebrating the Italian Christmas holiday appeared to have decided to pick up their orders all at the same time on Friday around 11 a.m.

Jam-packed with cars, a officer was on site to direct traffic in and out of Hill's parking lot.

According to the officer, the traffic around the area will be worse on Saturday as last-minute shoppers pick up their ordered platters for the Feast later that night. The officer told Patch that this year is not as bad as some years, where he has seen long line at Hill's before the store opened.
