Food Network's 'Cupcake Wars' Winner Serves Cupcakes at Burlap and Bean

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Here's another reason to stop by local coffee shop in Newtown Square: the cupcakes they offer were recently recognized on national TV.

Burlap and Bean offers an array of sweet delights but the cupcakes they offer are special. Their gourmet vegan and gluten-free cupcakes are baked by a Chester County cupcake truck Dia Doce or "Sweet Day" in Portugese.

Hearing the words "vegan" and "gluten-free" may scare some folks but Dia Doce proved themselves–who faced stiff competition from three other cupcake companies across the nation–on a recent episode of Food Network's Cupcake Wars.

According to Food Network's Cupcake Wars, "four of the country’s top cupcake bakers face off in three elimination challenges until only one decorator remains. The sweet prize: $10,000 and the opportunity to showcase their cupcakes at the winning gig." 

The episode was first aired on March 20th and the episode's theme was celebrating the Girls Scouts' 100th birthday. Missed the episode? According to Food Network's TV schedule, the episode will air again on Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m.

Dia Doce took out the competition with their winning fudge, mint and raspberry cupcakes. You can also view the recipes here.
