Former Pathmark Property Sold

The former Pathmark site on Lawrence Road in Broomall will soon be a new medical facility.

The former Pathmark site on Lawrence Road in Broomall, which closed its doors to the public in October 2010, has been sold to become a Chester-Crozer Medical Center.

The property has been sold and design plans are moving forward, Marple Township Director of Code Enforcement Joseph Romano said.

The property was sold for $4.8 million on Jan. 30, according to Delaware County real estate records.

Crozer-Chester has no plans to knock down the existing building, Romano said at a recent Marple Township Commissioner's workshop meeting, construction will be done within the four existing walls of the former Pathmark.

The facility will be used as a cancer treatment center for chemotherapy and radiation, Romano said.

Construction is expected to begin as soon as possible and the new facility is anticipated to open in Spring 2014, Romano said.
