Great Harvest Bread Closes in Newtown Square

An employee at the Great Harvest Bread Co. says the Newtown Square location has been closed since the tail end of 2012.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Just shy of celebrating their two-year anniversary, the Great Harvest Bread Co. in Newtown Square has shuttered its doors. According to an employee, the Newtown Square location closed for business around the tail end of 2012.

The Newtown Square location–located at 3717 West Chester Pike–was owned by Debbie and Darren Henderson, who received unanimous approval for the bread shop in February 2011 from the Newtown Zoning Hearing Board.

The Hendersons also own two other locations along the Main Line–one located on Route 30 in Wayne and another inside the Ardmore Farmer's Market. They recently just opened up another location last summer in Glen Mills.

According to the employee, the owners wanted to focus their attention on their newest locations in Glen Mills and Ardmore.

No baking occurred at the Newtown Square location and the location was used to sell their freshly baked breads from their Wayne site. However, the specialty shop offered fresh-baked goods such as a variety of different flavored breads, cookies and scones, as well as sandwiches and salads.
