The TV station phl 17 recently announced the winners of its Philly Hot List contest, and a number of local businesses made the cut.
More than 118,000 votes were tallied after the voting ended on Sept. 17, according to the contest website. The 6,400 nominees were whittled down to winners and finalists in 141 categories.
Among the Marple Newtown businesses who made the list were:

- Newtown Square – 2012 Award Winner Best Running Gear (Finalist/4th Place)
- Touch of Class Dance Studio, Broomall – 2012 Award Winner Best Dance Studio (Finalist/5th Place)
- Nicholas Smith Toys & Trains, Broomall – 2012 Best Children's Toy Store (8th Place)
- Marple Sports Arena, Broomall – 2012 Best Children's Entertainment (10th Place)
- Williamsburg Dental, Broomall – 2012 Best Cosmetic Dentistry (10th Place)
- Masterpieces Fine Art & Custom Framing, Newtown Square – 2012 Best Custom Framing (12th Place)
