Marple Walmart Employees Move Into New Site At Marple Crossings

SPRINGFIELD–Employees of the new Walmart took possession of the store's site in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center Tuesday, Sept. 6, confirmed Kera Armstrong, a representative of Walmart.

During this time, Armstrong said that Marple Walmart employees had operated a temporary hiring office nearby. The office, located in the Springfield-Hanby Masonic Lodge, has now moved locations to its new home located at 400 S. State Road in Springfield.

Walmart officials announced the store is wrapping up its construction and is counting down for the store's grand opening date, which is set for sometime early October.

"The retailer will now spend the next few weeks transforming the empty building into a Walmart store complete with a full line of groceries and a wide assortment of merchandise and time-saving services," announced the Marple Walmart representatives.

Armstrong said the store is still continuing its hiring process in which 100 jobs are still available. The store estimated about hiring 300 employees for the new store, in which 200 have already been hired.

Many of the store's new hires have already started work prepping for the grand opening. Armstrong confirmed the store is currently on schedule to open next month.

“We can’t wait to open and offer Walmart’s unbeatable prices and a convenient shopping option for our community,” said store manager Anthony Deni. 

Although many residents have previously shared their about the mega retail/food store coming to the shopping center and have signed a petition against the new tenant moving in, Marple Board of Commissioners have also previously shared their positivity for the store in hopes that it will generate more revenue and jobs in town.
