Newtown Home Sales, Prices Slightly Up in April

Prudential Fox & Roach Realtors released their April 2012 report of homes sold in Newtown Township, among other Main Line area municipalities.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Newtown Township home sales in April increased slightly from the year prior.

According to a Home Market report from Prudential Fox and Roach Realtors, 13 properties changed hands in the township during April this year.

In 2011 that number was 11; in 2010 it was 17.

Compared with the same month last year, Newtown fell somewhat in the middle percentage-wise–18 percent–out of nine Main Line municipalities included in the report. Those municipalities include: Malvern, Tredyffrin, Easttown, Willistown, Haverford, Radnor, Narberth and Lower Merion.

Narberth Borough performed best with a 150 percent increase for increasing from two to five homes sold.

The median price of a home sold in Newtown was also up to $465,000 from $449,000 last April — a 3.6 percent increase.

The average days on the market for homes that sold in Newtown this April increased steeply from 85 days on the market to 132 days on the market, according to the Prudential Fox and Roach report.
