Verizon Wireless Opens in Newtown Square

The new cellular wireless store opened in Newtown Township on Sunday, Dec. 16.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The former site of Blockbuster Video, located on 3515 West Chester Pike in Newtown Square, reopened on Sunday as Verizon Wireless.

After approximately eight weeks of construction, the iconic blue roof of Blockbuster video was torn down and replaced with the mega-cellular wireless brand Verizon.

According to Verizon Wireless Team Leader Ben Berman, Verizon chooses their locations specifically and many are located off of main roads or off the "main drag."

According to Berman, the store is currently hiring for sales associates. The store offers all home wireless services, phone plans and mobile services, and also sells iPhones, iPads, and tablets. Hours for the store are: Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In August of this year, Verizon Wireless sought sign variances from the Zoning Hearing Board and received three approvals with one extension.
