Celebrating 10 Years of Quality Dance Education with a TWIST of Fun!

This year, From the Top Studio of Dance marks its 10th anniversary of providing students with “Quality Dance Instruction with a TWIST of Fun”! From the Top opened its doors with one small studio in the Newtown Square Shopping Center with the goal of not just teaching dance technique, but helping to develop confidence and poise and stressing the importance of nutrition to children and teens in the community. Today, From the Top Studio of Dance has expanded to 3 studio spaces and is home to over 200 students. “Ten years is an incredible milestone,” said Sheila Clement-Turner, Owner of From the Top and 1990 Marple Newtown graduate. “Maintaining great relationships with our dancers, their families and the community is a key to our success. Making a difference in the growth and development of our dancers is what motivates us. We teach them to dance, but the difference here, is that we also teach them to take care of themselves and their community.” Turner further attributes the success of the studio to having a solid, professional and caring faculty and staff. “Our families know and trust our teachers because they not only have extensive dance backgrounds, they have all been with the studio since our doors opened,” said Turner. “We also continue our training every year by traveling to New York City to attend an intense 3-day dance teacher summit with the top choreographers in the world so we can stay on top of the newest dance trends and technique.” In addition to teaching dance, From the Top is committed to giving back to the local community. Their dancers perform every year at local nursing homes, entertain the crowds at the annual Newtown Sq Holiday Tree Lighting, raise funds for local families in need and work with the local school district and intermediate unit by teaching dance to students with both physical and mental disabilities. “The combination of focusing on both the physical and personal development of our students is what separates us from the rest,” says Turner. “Our families know that when their children walk in to the studio, they will learn the fundamentals, techniques and performance of dance in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere.” About From the Top From the Top Studio of Dance, located on the lower level in the Newtown Sq Shopping Center, offers instruction for all ages and levels in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, creative movement, boys hip hop, lyrical, modern and yoga.
