Is It Edgmont or Edgemont?
The township of Edgmont spells its name one way, while the post office in that township spells it another way. Which spelling do you prefer?
NEWTOWN SQUARE–Marple Newtown Patch's neighbor spells its name two different ways–Edgmont and Edgemont, but which is the correct spelling?
Local Editor Courtney Elko of Media Patch breaks the issue down on the spelling of the township's name and how both may be correct.
She states, "The township was incorporated in 1687 and officially was spelled Edgmont but not before it went through a few other spelling variations of Edgemont and Edgmond. The official township charter spells it Edgmont."
