Lane Restrictions Scheduled on I-476 in Marple

PennDOT announced the lane restrictions will occur between March 5-9.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) recently announced that there will lane restrictions in the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 476 in .

According to PennDOT, the lane restrictions will be in effect from Monday, March 5 through Friday, March 9. Repairs will be made during this time for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installation from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to PennDOT.

Lane restrictions will occur between Interstate 95 and Route 30 off of the Blue Route. In addition to Marple, the other townships that will be affected by the repairs include Ridley, Upper Providence, Springfield, Nether Providence, and Radnor.

ITS are real-time traffic signals that track how many cars are waiting at each side of an intersection and then react accordingly, and can reduce congestion as well as greenhouse gas emissions by keeping traffic moving.

PennDOT encourages commuters and drivers to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

The work will be completed by Carr & Duff, Inc., according to PennDOT.
