Road Work and Closure List This Week for Marple Newtown

PennDOT has issued out several construction projects for the week of July 17 around the Marple Newtown area.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will be working on several new road construction project and continuing existing ones for the week of July 17.

Make your commute a little easier by avoiding the following road work this week:

  • From 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting on July 18, crews will be working on ADA (American Disability Act)-accessible ramp reconstruction off of Newtown Road/Rt. 252 in Newtown Square. There will be lane restrictions between West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Goshen Road. The construction is expected to end on July 22. This is a $6.9 million project contracted by James J. Anderson.
  • From 6 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, starting on July 16, PennDOT crews will be repainting traffic lines on state highways in Marple, Edgmont, Middletown and Thornbury townships. The project is scheduled for completion by July 22. No lane restrictions or road closures but PennDOT advises commuters to leave ample distance behind the line-painting truck and to stay off the traffic lines. This project is contracted by PennDOT.
  • From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through July 29, Aqua Pennsylvania will continue working on a utility installation project on Church Road in Newtown Square. Road closures and detour between Clovelly Lane and Valley Forge Road are expected. Detour signs have been posted.
