Sinkhole in Broomall Gets Larger

The sinkhole on 370 Reed Road has now expanded across a handful of parking spaces in the privately owned parking lot.

BROOMALL–The in a privately owned business parking lot on 370 Reed Road in Broomall a few weeks ago has gotten noticeably larger, stretching across a handful of parking spaces now.

The relentless summer storms and with the wrath of , the sinkhole has nearly doubled in its size than what it was a few weeks ago.

According to Manager Anthony Hamaday, the owner of the private property has hired a contractor, ordered an entire pipe system for the property and has fenced off the sinkhole. Currently, Hamaday said there's also an emergency pipe system.

"He has placed an emergency pipe there," said Hamaday in a phone interview last week. "Right now it's still flowing and he has workers on call. And if we notify them it's collapsed or they see it has collapsed, they have an emergency pipe."

Hamaday assured that neighboring properties upstream have not been compromised. As soon as the pipes come in, the contractors will be able to start installing the pipe and fixing the sinkhole, said Hamaday.
