'Today Show' Highlights Sarah Murnaghan

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius says she can't change the rules for one patient.

NBC's The Today Show highlight Sarah Murnaghan's story on Wednesday.

Murnaghan, Newtown Square, .

The 10 year old has been on both the adult and pediatric lung transplant list for 18 months. Because of her age and organ transplant policy, she will only receive adult donor lungs after all adult candidates, regardless of how sick they are, have the opportunity to accept them. There are far fewer pediatric lungs available.

If Sarah were 12 years old she would immediately be eligible for the next available lungs from an adult donor.
