What are the larger issues facing the district and how would you like to see them resolved?
The quality of education our kids receive is directly proportional to the lengths we are willing to go as a district to support them. Keeping our taxes low while continuing to keep the pace with technology and the facilities necessary for a top education for our children is the biggest issue we face as a district and as a community.
How would you create a balance between spending taxpayer dollars and quality education?
As a parent, I have always felt some of the most creative ideas to problem solving came from inclusiveness and listening to what our parents have to say on individual programs and protocols. I feel it is my responsibility as a board member to listen to our parents and find the most practical way to accomplish educating our kids.
How can you improve school district and board transparency with residents?
In order to improve communication within the district, we encourage parents to attend meetings and provide feedback on current issues. Also, the creation of a district-wide email suggestion box might be helpful as a tool for parents to communicate directly with the school board to address issues immediately.
Why should residents give you their vote?
My husband, Bill, and I have been Marple residents for 26 years and our children, Dave and Leigh Anne, attended all Marple Newtown schools. I am the voice of residents that have already put their children through the district, but still take a vested interest in maintaining the quality of education and the reputation we are known for in our district.
