Once again, the Newtown Square Business & Professional Association, in conjunction with local Girl Scouts and Susquehanna Bank, will host a Tree Lighting Ceremony in St. Albans Circle on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. Personnel of the Newtown Square Volunteer Fire Company will hang with care the 4000 LED lights on the “Tree of Peace” planted over 40 years ago by local Girl Scouts.

Children of all ages are invited to enter edible, biodegradable ornaments to compete for cash prizes. Age groups are: 5 and under; 6 to 8; 9 to 10; and 11 to 12. All ornaments should have strong wire or string hangers as well as the child’s name and age clearly marked on the back.

Entries may be dropped off at Susquehanna Bank, 200 South Newtown Street Road during regular banking hours between November 26th and November 30th. The ornaments will be hung on the tree a day or two before the event.

In keeping with the holiday spirit, representatives from the U.S. Marine Corp’s “Toys For Tots” program will be on hand to collect new, unwrapped toys to brighten Christmas for many children. In addition to holiday music from the N.S. Presbyterian church choir, students of “From The Top Dance Studio” will perform.
