Michael Kane Photography at Beauty Art Gallery

Michael Kane Photography at Beauty Art Gallery
Cityscapes, Shore and Local Scenes Amaze in Stunning Photography

Striking scenes of Philadelphia, macro shots at the shore, as well as glimpses of rural Pennsylvania comprise Beauty Art Gallery’s display of works by up-and-coming photographer Michael Kane of Willistown, PA.
“Mike looks through the lens and sees what is there, plus more. Perhaps it’s his attraction to his subjects or his love of color, but his images are striking and memorable,” says gallery owner Paula Farley Jackson.
“Mike has a technology background; he interprets and alters the scenes, objects and people he photographs.”

The exhibition and sale runs July 26 through August 24, 2013.

About Michael Kane
"I see the world as bold, beautiful and magnificent" - Michael Kane

Michael Kane is a consistently upbeat character telling his visual tale of the world. Through his work, he expresses the vibrancy, boldness, potential and passion he sees all about him. "As you flow through life, images of beauty and visions of perfection are everywhere," he says.

Kane is a self-taught photographer who first experimented with photography during a two-year period when he was confined to a wheelchair due to a neurological disorder that hit him at age 20. His family and friends gave him cameras and he found inspiration through the eye of the lens.

Not surprisingly, Kane’s early works are macro images, close-ups of objects and items in plain view. In time, he became fascinated with the life observed in coral reef aquariums. He found it thrilling to capture these tiny creatures and introduce them to people who might never have known of their existence.
After Kane recovered mobility, his more recent works take you into the city of Philadelphia, and out into rural areas as expressed through fields, flowers, orange-tinted sunsets, and nights with a canopy of stars watching overhead.

Photography frees Kane’s passion for life. He hopes his images will make viewers open up and talk about what they see and how they feel as a result. "I hope images express a sense of my mood, and also reflect a mirror of your mood, your emotional reaction. I strive to make photographic images that will bring about different spectrums of emotion,” he says.

Kane is a member of Media Arts Council and the Main Line Camera Club. He has previously sold his work through the South Street Creative Arts Fair and The Gem in Kennett Square. He graduated from Marple-Newtown High School in Newtown Township, PA, in 2003 and ITT Technical Institute in 2005.

Two years after graduation from ITT, Kane developed the nervous disorder CIDP, a chronic form of Guillain-Barre. After several years of near complete paralysis, a specialist at University of Pennsylvania began treatments that eventually enabled Kane to walk again. Although still receiving treatment, Kane has been “fully good” for two years. His loves of technology and photography have mingled, and the photo images he shares today present an intersection of the real and digital worlds. Kane lives in Willistown, PA, with his mom, sister and two Yorkies, Romeo and Valentino.
