ULI Philadelphia Presents: Crowdfunding: A Viable Tool for Commercial Real Estate?

Crowdfunding is a financial tool where a large pool of backers- the “crowd”- is engaged to raise capital for a particular project. Often used for a philanthropic or political campaign, start-up company or nonprofit, the 2013′s JOBS Act has provided the investment world with an unprecedented opportunity to raise capital from previously untapped sources. In commercial real estate, various crowdfunding platforms have been established to raise equity from large groups of potential investors. Hear Benjamin Miller, Co-Founder of Fundrise, give an overview on crowdfunding, particularly relating to commercial real estate, as well as the types of deals that get financed and how platforms such as Fundrise operate. Joan Hooke, Partner at Capital Solutions, will speak about its viability and potential as a long-term fundraising strategy as well as its place within the context of traditional structured finance.  Limited to the first 30 ULI members who register. For more information click here.
