Marple, Newtown Hold Tree Lightings this Weekend

Marple and Newtown will ring in the holiday season with two annual tree lightings this weekend.



RESCHEDULED: Newtown Township's tree lighting has been rescheduled for Dec. 15 at 7 p.m.


Both Marple and Newtown townships will ring in the holiday season with the annual tree lightings this weekend. 

In Marple, the annual tree lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Veteran's Memorial Park on Lawrence Road in Broomall.

Santa will be there to help light the trees along with Marple Newtown High School choir, students from Art in Motion Dance Studio and representatives of the Marple Police Department, Broomall Fire Co. and Marple Township Ambulance Corps., according to the Delaware County News Networks

In Newtown, the festivities will begin at 7 p.m. on Dec. 8 in St. Albans Circle in Newtown Square.

Santa Claus will arrive by fire engine with candy canes donated by Christophers Chocolates and students of “From the Top Dance Studio” will perform, according to the Delco News Network

The U.S. Marine Corp’s “Toys For Tots” program will accept donates of new, unwrapped toys.

Nicholas Sebastian Salon in Newtown Square will also collect new, unwrapped toys to be donated to Toys for Tots from 2 to 6 p.m. on Dec. 8. There will be face painting, balloon animals and food, all leading up to the annual tree lighting ceremony when the toys will be donated to the U.S. Marine Corps. “Toys For Tots” program.
