Say Goodbye, Adieu, and Farewell to 2012

The Phillies should seriously think about 2013 and re-sign Cole Hamels.

Swan song or not, Cole Hamels of the Philadelphia Phillies should remain in Phillies' pinstripes for the foreseable future.

Hamels was groomed in the Phillies minor league system, won a Phillies's World Series in 2008 and together with Rollins, Hutley and Ryan Howard represent the great Phillies's team Philadelphia has been accustomed to.

Injuries and other elements aside, the 2012 Phillies are still as good as they were in the last 3 to 4 years.  The addition of Halladay, Lee and the new closer Palpebon makes the Phillies a team to be reckon with in 2013 and beyond.

As a passionate Phillies' fan for more than I can remember, I still wish the Phillies would make a run in 2012 but being 14 games out of 1st place, I do not see much hope for this year and that is why I say, re-sign Hamels so that in 2013 the Phillies can regain their form and have a good start with the three best pitchers in baseball.

With minor adjustments in the coming July 31st deadline and in the off-season, the Phillies can be great again and compete with the other teams in their division on equal footing if not from a position of strength because championships are won when a team is strong.

Giving up on Hamels to receive some great future prospects when you already have the pitching nucleus of three great individuals that everyone wish they had is not the right thing to do at this time.

Now that Howard and Hutley are back from injuries, the time is not to dinimish your strength but to add to that strength without giving up the prize possesion of the Phillies, Cole Hamels.
