Endorsed Republican Candidate for School Board 2 Year Term - James Lanzalotto

Endorsed Republican Candidate for School Board 2 Year Term - James Lanzalotto

I joined the Marple Newtown Board of Education last June to finish out the term of a member that had left the board. In that time, I have learned there is great opportunity in our school district – with hard work and ingenuity we can develop one of the best school systems in the area. To get there, though, we need to balance the needs of students, families, teachers and the overall community while operating in a challenging financial environment. My experience serving on the board for the past year and working with the Community Budget Committee for the previous 9 months - along with my business expertise - will be of great value to the citizens of Marple and Newtown townships as we work to re-build the strength, vitality and value of our school district. That path begins with the development of a sound operating strategy and continues with a consistent execution plan that holds all members of our school community accountable for our mutual success.

I am running for a seat on the Marple Newtown Board of Education because I believe in our towns and our schools and I am committed to serve my community. My wife and I have lived in Newtown Square for 15 years after moving from Marple, where we resided for 6 years. Our 3 children attend schools in the district; we are raising our kids here because of the quality-of-life, schools and the friendships we have made over the years.

I am very comfortable working in a collaborative environment as we do on the school board, but I am also not afraid to challenge the status quo and stand up for change and improving how our schools are led and operated.

Core Beliefs

  • Execution – The board needs a strategy for the school district and we need to execute on that plan
  • Accountability –The board must be open and transparent in all of its actions and we must deliver for all of our customers
  • Communications – The board must be more proactive in communicating with the community, especially around the annual budget process
  • Leadership – Members of the board need to leaders and willing to drive change
