Funeral Service Scheduled for Richard "Rocky" Geraghty on Friday Morning

Funeral service for Rocky Geraghty, 24, of Broomall, who was 2005 Marple Newtown grad and a U.S. Marine, will be held on Friday, Nov. 25, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Newtown Square.

Richard Curtis "Rocky" Geraghty Jr., 24, of Broomall, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Nov. 21, 2011. Born in West Chester, he was the son of Richard C. Sr. and Lisa McMichael Shaw Geraghty of Broomall.

Rocky was a 2005 graduate of and was attending . For four years, he proudly served active duty in the U.S. Marines during the War on Terror, achieving the rank of Sergeant. He completed Boot Camp at Paris Island, SC, was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA and served with the Fox Company 2-4 Amphibious Raiders and the 9th Helo Assault Unit.

Rocky was a member of . He enjoyed art and playing guitar.

Survivors: In addition to his parents, Rocky is survived by his maternal grandmother Joyce Duffy; brothers David Shaw and his wife Kristina, Sean and Jon; sisters Nol, Leah, and Charla; 5 nieces and nephews all of Broomall.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, at First Baptist Church of Newtown Square, 3722 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square. Calling in church 9:30 to 11 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken. Memorial contributions can be made towards Charla's trust fund. Arr: James J. Terry Funeral Home, Downingtown.
