Elderly Phone Scam

My Father lives at Maris Grove but this could be anywhere.  He received a call from E Tech Technologies - 888-387-4735.  They said they were calling on behalf of Microsoft because MS does not contact people directly.  They had my Father's residential and contact information etc at hand. ....  They explained that his computer may have a Microsoft firewall issue and they wanted to work with him by connecting to his computer remotely. They needed to do this in order to determine if his firewall was setup up correctly to avoid anyone possibly hacking into his computer. They told him that someone could be trying to hack into his computer at any moment and they wanted to avoid this.  Fortunately, they never got that far but I can only assume that if they were able to get onto his computer they would definitely find something wrong and charge him some large sum of money to fix it or possibly take other personal information off of it.   I called this company and although it appears to be legit they are misrepresenting their association with Microsoft and targeting retirement home residents because they are easy prey and easily confused.   Consumer beware.
