From Outdoor Movie, Live Music to Festivals Galore

September is perfect weather for outdoor festivals, and there is one for everyone this week. Enjoy arts, crafts and live music at Linvilla's Johnny Appleseed Festival; experience a neighborhood block party on steroids at Radnor's Fall Festival; or learn all there is to know about raising backyard chickens at the 4-H Poultry Festival. Patch's Best Bets for the Week

Where/When: 's open air amphitheater at dusk on Saturday.
Why Go: Take advantage of cooler weather and catch the last showing of the free Moonlight and Movies series presented by Newtown Township Parks & Recreation Board. This Saturday features the delightful Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Squeakquel, sponsored by Bryn Mawr Trust Bank. Get there early and enjoy the park including the Train Museum on-site. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and your own snacks or purchase them at the park for a nominal fee.

Where/When: 4H Farm at 395 Bishop Hollow Road in Newtown Square from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Join the Delaware County 4H Club for a discussion and celebration of raising backyard chickens. Learn about composting, embryology, poultry feed and more. Plus, talk with a Penn vet who'll be on site for questions. Bring a dozen eggs from your own home-flock for judging. Bring the whole family for games, food, the chicken dance and door prizes.
Pricing: $2 per person, under 4 years old free.

Where/When: Newtown Square coffeehouse at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Why Go: Jeffrey Foucault has spent the last decade mining the darker seams of country and blues, producing a string of spare and elemental albums of rare power while garnering accolades across the United States and overseas for a tersely elegant brand of songwriting set apart by its haunting imagery and weather-beaten cool. He tours behind his first collection of original material in five years. Opening will be special guest Dean Fields.
Pricing: $15 in advance, $18 at the door.

Where/When: Downtown Media from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Stroll along State Street, which will be closed to traffic, and peruse the wares of over 200 vendors selling handmade crafts, antiques, art, collectibles and more. Local restaurants will also have booths set up along the route so come hungry and stay for lunch.

GREAT MEDIA GARAGE SALE DAYS

Where/When: Throughout Media Borough from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Why Go: Search for treasure in this townwide garage sale, a bargain-hunter's paradise. Maps of participating homes are available on Saturday at Koffee Korner on Jasper and Jackson Streets, Quincy's on State and Jackson Street or at Borough Hall, 3rd and Jackson Street.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When:  from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Why Go: Browse the work of local artists and craftspeople including woodcrafts, jewelry, photography and more. Stay for great local live music. While you're there, also check out Linvilla's Pumpkinland, fields of pick-your-own fruit and fresh pies in the farm market.

Where/When: North Wayne Avenue in Downtown Wayne from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Catch up with neighbors while enjoying food from your favorite restaurants and activities for the whole family, including face painting, magic shows, music, art, a dog show and more. Plus, you'll have no worries about missing the game with the Eagles showing on the big screen.

OUTDOOR DECK PARTY AND SINGLES SOCIAL 

Where/When: Tango on the Main Line from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Monday.
Why Go: Mix and mingle with singles from the Main Line for business and personal networking sponsored by Professional and Business Singles Network. Gather at Tango's outdoor Cantina Deck Bar reserved for the event and enjoy happy hour specials until 7:30 p.m.
