Why Go: Join Allison DeSalvo and World of Song for an interactive Christmas concert encouraging children to sing, move, laugh, play and learn. Refreshments will be served and Santa arrives at 2 p.m. so bring your camera. All ages are welcome to this event sponsored by the Friends of Newtown Public Library.

HOLIDAY CELEBRATION FEATURING CRAIG BICKHARDT AND LIZANNE KNOTT

Where/When: at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Why Go: Enjoy the music of two well-regarded singer-songwriters in this cozy cafe turned intimate listening room. Also, be on-hand to celebrate Burlap and Bean's second annual holiday celebration accompanied by wine tastings by Auburn Road Vineyards.
Pricing: $25 cover.

Where/When: Felinton Hall at Broomall's from 3:30 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Why Go: Enjoy an afternoon of dancing to beautiful live music by Trio Con Brio. In addition to waltzes, the program includes couple dances such as swing, tango, polka, one-step, schottische, fox-trot and more. Take advantage of pre-event lessons (included in admission price), choosing from cross-step waltz at 2:30 p.m. or basic waltz at 2:45 p.m. Dancing to live music begins with a waltz mixer. No partner or experience is required.
Pricing: $12, full-time student $6.


Where/When: at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Why Go: Learn about the many ways animals survive the long, cold winter months at this exciting puppet show by the Delaware Museum of Natural History. Using a hands-on approach, their trained puppeteers teach children about the wonders of the natural world and bolster their creativity. Each program consists of a puppet show, museum specimens, and live animals that complement the theme. This program is designed for children age 3 to 7.
Pricing: Free, registration required.


Where/When: at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Additional showings are at 2 p.m. Wednesday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go: Take in this performance classic perfect for the whole family, with Broadway's Brad Little as Captain Von Trapp, and local favorite Elisa Matthews as Maria. Based on the memoir of Maria Von Trapp, it premiered on Broadway in 1959. Every song from its score became standards known worldwide due to their heartfelt lyrics and melodies. The story of hope and triumph caused “The Sound of Music” to break box-office records with both its stage and film versions. No other musical defines music as the ‘universal language’ more than this spectacular, moving production.
Pricing: Tickets $37-$54.


Where/When: In front of the Media courthouse on Front Street from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.
Why Go: Enjoy a cozy carriage ride through festively decorated Downtown Media. Stay for dinner or to browse the shops, which stay open late for browsing.
Pricing: $10 for adults, $5 for children under 10.

Where/When: from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday.
