Newtown Square Residents: CR Zoning Amendment Update

Last November, when the first Public Hearing to consider the CR Zoning Amendment was scheduled, we wanted to make sure that Newtown Square Residents were informed about the proposed rezoning and its effects. We talked to neighbors, wrote letters to (and took out ads in) the County Press, and started Our Town. As the hearing date approached, and it became apparent that hundreds of Residents would be attending the meeting to protest against the proposed Ordinance, the Supervisors postponed making the decision.

DEJA VU...

Three weeks ago, when the second Public Hearing to consider the CR Zoning Amendment was scheduled for this Monday June 24, we wanted to make sure Newtown Square Residents were informed about the rescheduled meeting. We emailed Our Town members, started a Blog on the Marple Newtown Patch and created an Online Petition asking the Supervisors to vote against CR Zoning. As the hearing date approaches, and it has become apparent that many more Residents than last time will be attending the meeting to protest against the proposed Ordinance...

THE SUPERVISORS HAVE POSTPONED MAKING THE DECISION AGAIN.

They have decided that the Public Hearing will now take place on July 31st at 7PM. Do you happen to be on vacation that week? So are several hundred thousand other people on the east coast.

I wonder why they decided to cancel the Public Hearing when it was just four days away?

I wonder why Joe Catania, Ed Patridge, George Wood and Ross Lambert chose July 31st as the new Public Hearing date?

I wonder why they don't postpone until the October 15th meeting to ensure all Residents are able to attend and voice their opinion?

I wonder why they are even considering voting for the CR Zoning Amendment when the entire community is opposed to it?

If you'd like to hear if the Supervisors answer these questions, or would like to comment or ask questions of your own, then please still attend the meeting Monday night. The Public Hearing is not taking place at this time but the Board of Supervisors will still hold their regular meeting on Monday June 24th at 7:30PM. Your presence at this meeting will speak a thousand words. We hope to see you there.

...and if you are opposed to CR Zoning in Newtown Square and haven't already signed the Online Petition, please take a moment to do so now and make sure your voice is heard!
