What's To Come At Monday Night's Supervisors Meeting

The Board of Supervisors April 23rd meeting will be an interesting and informative meeting to attend.

If you have not had the chance to attend a Newtown Township Board of Supervisors meeting, I encourage you to attend the meeting on Monday, April 23rd, at 7:30 p.m. at the . There are varied items on the agenda for this meeting that will present an opportunity for attendees to see the members of the Board of Supervisors at work. Members of the public will also have an opportunity for public comment.

Below is a description of some of the items that will be discussed and acted upon at the meeting.

There will be two public hearings at the meeting–both these items require hearings as the applicants are asking for permission that cannot be automatically granted. First, Application for Conditional Use, Steven Papa, 411 Timber Lane, Request conditional use approval to disturb areas steep slope for construction grading as provided in Chapter 134, Slope Conservation, Section 134-7.B(2)(d) of the Newtown Township Code.

Second, Application for Conditional Use, –Request to conditional use approval to disturb areas of steep slope to install sanitary sewer main within an easement on property owned by Ashford Land Company, L.P., as provided in Chapter 134, Slope Conservation, Section 134-7.B(2)(d) of the Newtown Township General Code.

There will be a manager's update at the meeting. You would be able to hear updates on township business from Township Manager Mike Trio. There will be new business at the meeting. You can find out what changes are proposed for the Newtown Township Property Maintenance Chapter of the Township Code.

In old business, the supervisors will provide an update of the following:

Paper Mill Road Update. This is where a new neighbor is attempting to have a portion of the road become private. If the requested portion of the road is closed, it would prevent all residents who have long used the road from accessing the trails in Radnor Township.

Wyola School Sale. Execute “Authorize Petition of Newtown Township for the Approval of Sale of Property Free of any Use Limitations.”  Residents will hear more on the plan to sell a historically significant property, which had been given to the township.  

In additional business, you will be able to hear from the dedicated members of the . They will have a presentation of the Newtown Township Historic Resources Map by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consultant Katherine Sparr.
