Newtown Township Budget Meeting - November 12 NOW at BOS 7:30 PM

This just posted on the NEWTOWNTOWNSHIP.ORG website.  Seems the Special Meeting was never properly advertised so now:

"NOTICE:The workshop noted to start at 6:00 PM this evening, November 12th, will not be conducted.  Discussion of the 2014 Municipal Budget will be added to the regular Board of Supervisors Meeting Agenda, meeting commencing at 7:30 PM."

Tomorrow night, November 12th, from 6-7:15PM at the Township Building, Newtown Township's Supervisors will hold their second Special Meeting for discussion of the Township's 2014 Budget.  As the Township Manager has posted a draft of the Budget on the website, this meeting may actually be a "review and discussion of the proposed 2014 Newtown Township Municipal Budget".
I hope before the meeting, the Manager will review the summary page included with the draft budget and will fix the arithmetic error that is on that page with Expenses over Revenues that don't relate to the Total. It would be great if before the meeting, Manager Trio would ensure that the numbers and charts he proposes in the draft budget are accurate.

If you look at the proposed draft Budget on the Township website and included with this post, you will see that it proposes a 6.5 % increase.  You will see that there is still proposed payment of Supervisor medical benefits. You will see that there is proposed continued payment of medical benefits for employees that require no payment on the employees' part.  Taxpayers will foot the bill for the entire premium as well as as for 100% of their deductibles' cost.

In the last Budget meeting, there also was a proposal that 3.5% salary increases for employees be included in the budget.  It seems that this proposal is also included in the draft budget.

The draft budget is attached and is also available for review on the township website, NEWTOWNTOWNSHIP.ORG.  I hope residents will let the Supervisors know that this year's proposed budget should not include a tax increase. Please try to attend tomorrow night's budget meeting and let the Supervisors know that the proposed  6.5% increase should be ZERO %.
