Newtown Zoning Hearing for 3810 West Chester Pike will NOT take place Feb. 20th

Zoning Notice
Zoning Notice
The Newtown Township Zoning Hearing Board meeting will take place on February 20, 2014 at 7:30 PM at the Newtown Township Building.

However, the first item on the agenda, the rescheduled hearing for a zoning use variance for 3810 West Chester Pike, will not take place. THIS HEARING HAS BEEN CONTINUED. IT WILL NOT TAKE PLACE ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 20th.  The agenda on the township website states that the case is continued until March.

As a comment to my previous Patch post concerning this application, Mr. Imperatrice offered:

"As a courtesy, I wanted you to know that the February 20 hearing will be continued. Our attorney has notified the Township as of today. I will try to keep you advised. If you want to speak with me directly about what is being proposed, I remain at your (and any neighbor's) disposal."

Currently, the hearing for the second item is still on the agenda. It is:
"2014-02 Robert & Nancy Kermon, 314 Summit Ave., Newtown Square, PA 19072, pertaining to said premises.  The applicants are requesting a Special Exception under section 172-141, side yard setback, to build an addition to permit expansion of the house."

Well it's good to know that it is postponed but why is it we never know it's on the agenda in the first place. Do we seriously have to review the upcoming agenda's for each meeting each month. Who has time for that? I need to review the Zoning agenda, the Planning Commission agenda and the agenda for 2 supervisor's meetings? There has to be a better way and the township needs to figure it out. I'm on Hickory and I think this is within the notification area of 3810 but I don't typically wander around reading telephone poles especially when 5 feet of snow has fallen in the last 2 months. ~IRRITATED

I could not agree more with your observations. I do think that there is a better way, but in my opinion there has to be a desire on the part of Township leadership to keep citizens informed. Sadly, the opposite seems to me to be the case in Newtown. I'll be attending the Zoning Hearing Board meeting tonight and will report on any information provided and/or actions taken. Thank you for your comment.
