2 Charged in Connection with Thefts from Autos, Police Say

Two people were charged with stealing electronics and money from inside vehicles, Marple Township Police say.

Two people have been arrested and charged in connection with a few of the recent thefts from vehicles in Marple Township, according to police.

Stephen Stubblefield, 29, of Eddystone, and Tamara Campanese, 28, of Secane, were each charged with four misdemeanor counts of criminal conspiracy, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle and one count each of loitering and prowling at night, according to Marple Police Chief Tom Murray.

On July 24 at about 1:22 a.m., a witness told police that two people were looking into cars in the unit block of Lawrence Road in the parking lot of the Lawrence Park Condominiums, according to Marple Police.

When police arrived Campanese was seen dropping a black bag on the ground and walking away, according to police.

A witness told police that the two were seen entering a silver Toyota and also tried the handles of several other cars in the parking lot, according to police, and the witness knew the owner of the Toyota who is a resident of the complex.

Stubblefield told police he did enter the Toyota and removed electronics from inside, according to police.

Inside the bag that Campanese dropped, police found three GPS units, cell phones, charger cords, money and other various items, according to police.

Stubblefield and Campanese do not appear to be connected to other recent thefts from vehicles that have occurred throughout the summer, Murray said.
