$500 Stolen from Pants Pocket, Police Say

Also, coins were stolen from a residents basement, police say.

The following information was supplied by Marple Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

Theft—Planet Fitness, 2900 block of Springfield Road on March 1 at about 6:30 p.m. Someone is believed to have taken money from inside a Ford F150 that was in the parking lot between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m., according to police. The victim believed he had locked the truck and returned home after the gym but noticed a bag, inside the truck, had been moved, according to the report. When the man checked the pockets of his pants, which were inside the bag, he discovered $518 missing, according to the report. The man did not notice any forced entry to vehicle.

Theft—100 block Longview Circle on March 1 at about 2:25 p.m. A resident and the executive director of the housing development told police that she was missing coins from her residence, according to the report. The woman kept the coins in a drawer in her basement and they were taken from a display case, according to the report. The coins were described as 50 holographic gold plated U.S. State quarters and 50 gold and silver highlighted U.S. standard quarters. The woman last saw the coins around Christmas because she has health issues and doesn’t go into the basement often, according to the report. There was no forced entry into residence, according to the report. However, an employee of the housing development was fired around Christmas and he had spent time at the victim’s residence, fixing things and talking with her, according to the report. The man also fixed the victim's heater which is located in the basement, according to the report.
