6 Cell Accounts Fraudulently Billed to Store, Police Say

Also, car radio and medications were stolen from inside a vehicle in a separate incident, police say.

The following information was supplied by Newtown Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

Criminal Mischief—Marple Newtown High School at the 100 block of Media Line Road at 12:45 p.m. on April 13. An employee told police a broken light was found outside the men’s bathroom entrance to the sports field arena, according to the report. The damage was valued between $100-150, according to the report.

Theft from Vehicle—400 block of Fourth Avenue in Newtown Square at about 6:32 p.m. on April 5. The victim reported that someone entered his vehicle, which was parked in the driveway, and stole his car radio and two of his prescription medications, according to the report. The man told police he usually locks the doors but believes he may have forgotten as he found the doors unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry, according to the report. The car radio was valued at $100 and the medications were suboxone and clonazepam, according to the report. The man told police he kept the medications in his vehicle because he had two roommates and thought they would be more "secure" in the car, however, he did not suspect his roommates in the theft, according to the report.

Theft—Delaware County Community College at the 400 block of Malin Road between 3:45 and 4:30 p.m. on April 7. A woman had just purchased a new black iPhone 5 and while attending track practice her phone was taken from her book bag which was in a nearby stairwell inside the school next to the track field, according to the report. The book bag was with the other track students' bags and just before practice the woman showed some teammates her cell phone, according to the report. The school is aware of the theft and apparently there was another phone taken as well but has not yet been reported to police, according to the report. The estimated value of the phone and its replacement was $375, according to the report.

Fraud—Hills Quality Seafood on the 3600 block of West Chester Pike at about 3:20 p.m. on April 9. The store received a bill from Verizon Wireless for a purchase of six new cell phone accounts and these purchases were not authorized by the store and are fraudulent, according to the report. The store owner was advised to file a police report.

Criminal Mischief—300 block of Crum Creek Lane in Newtown Square at about 2:23 a.m. on April 7. A resident heard several people in her front yard and yelled outside and the people fled in a vehicle towards Goshen Road, according to the report. Police soon arrived and noticed the resident's mailbox was knocked off its post, according to the report. 

Criminal Mischief—Unit block of Roberts Road at about 8 a.m. on April 7. The victim went outside in the morning and noticed his mailbox was knocked off of its base, according to the report. The estimated cost of damaged was $25, according to the report.
