Air Conditioning Unit Stolen from Business, Police Say

Also, electronics were stolen from Walmart in separate retail thefts, police say.

The following information was supplied by Marple Township Police. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

 

Theft—Petsmart on 2900 block of Springfield Road in Broomall at 5:01 p.m. on March 9. The victim, an employee, had her wallet and cell phone stolen about 45 minutes earlier from the break room, according to the report. The break room is across from the public restroom and a man, about 25 to 30 years old, was seen exiting the break room, according to the report. A short time later, the employee discovered her wallet was missing from a jacket pocket, according to the report, her jacket had been hanging on the back of a chair and was found by another employee on the floor of the break room. The wallet had $7 in cash, IDs, a bank card and her Droid 4 cell phone was also missing, according to the report. The man was described to be about 5 foot 10 inches tall, with dark hair and was possibly wearing glasses, according to the report.

Theft—Sproul Pharmacy at the 800 block of W. Sproul Rd. at 8:26 p.m. on March 11. Unknown persons stole the business' full-size air conditioning unit which was located outside, in the rear of the building, according to the report. The victim estimated that the theft occurred sometime within the past week, according to the report.

Retail Theft—Walmart at the 400 block of State Road in Springfield at about 7:44 p.m. on March 12. Store security reported that a man was in custody for a retail theft, according to the report. Security observed the man in the electronics department, selecting items from the shelves and placing them in this jacket pockets, according to the report. Then he went into the home department and again selected items from the shelves and placed them in his jacket pockets, according to the report. He then passed all points of sale without paying for the concealed merchandise, according to the report. The items were recovered and valued at $117.42 and the man was taken to the police station for processing, according to the report.

Retail Theft—Walmart at the 400 block of State Road in Springfield at about 4:17 p.m. on March 12. Store security reported that a man wearing a blue suit fled the store and ran toward State Road after security observed the man concealing electronic items and not paying for them, according to the report. When he was first told to stop by security, he sat on a bench in the outside lobby and three phone chargers were taken from him, according to the report, and then he jumped up and fled the store. The man was located by police near the McKee Building and a witness saw the man throw an object in a tree, according to the report. A Bluetooth speaker was retrieved from the tree by police, according to the report. The total stolen items were valued at $137.14, according to the report. He was transported to the police station where he was processed and issued a non-traffic citation.
