Blotter: 4 Reported Home Burglaries in Broomall

BROOMALL–On Oct. 26 at approximately 5:20 p.m., Marple police responded to the 2600 block of Oriole Road for a reported burglary. The homeowner told police she left her home that day at 10:30 a.m. and returned home at 5 p.m. only to find the rear door kicked in, according to the report. No further signs of entry were discovered, according to the report. Upon further investigation, only one bedroom had been tampered with and two drawers were left open. The following items were reported stolen: a white plastic container with numerous silver dollars; a bag of quarters; and an envelope with $100. Police spoke with a neighbor who stated that he returned home that morning at 10:30 a.m. and was approached in his driveway by two men claiming to be general contractors and wanted to give him a price to replace his siding. No vehicle was seen with the contractors, according to the report. Police are further investigating this incident.

Antique, College Rings and Pendants Stolen

On Oct. 26 at approximately 5 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of South Media Line Road for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police met with the homeowner who had just arrived home only to discover her bedroom light on and a clothing basket out of place, which she keeps on the kitchen floor up against the door to the basement. According to the report, the basement door is kept locked via a bolt latch on the kitchen side. The locking side on the door jam was bent and missing one of the two screws holding it in place, according to the report. The homeowner told police she kept the walk-out door from the basement to the backyard unlocked so that a friend could get access to yard tools but the friend hasn’t been to the home since the summer, according to the report. The following items were reported stolen: an antique white gold ring with a diamond setting; a gold college graduation ring with a black stone; and several cameo pendants. Police are further investigating this incident. 

Signed Eagles' Memorabilia and Power Tools Stolen 

On Oct. 24 at approximately 9:30 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of Crestview Drive for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with the homeowner who told police that someone had entered the home as well as the garage sometime overnight. The contractor arrived that morning at 6 a.m. to find the front door of the home open and a lock box missing. The following items were reported stolen: three-piece Makita 18-volt cordless tool pack containing a reciprocating saw, a drill, an impact driver, and a red Milwaukee battery charger/radio. In addition, numerous containers containing personalized Eagles clothing, memorabilia and signed helmets were missing from the garage. Police are further investigating this incident. 

Two Boxes of Jewelry and Antique Jewelry Stolen

On Oct. 18 at approximately 7:30 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of North New Ardmore Avenue for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police met with the homeowner who told police that she had left the home at approximately 6 a.m. that morning for work and when she returned back home, she noticed several things disturbed in the home. The homeowner told police she discovered the rear laundry area door had been forced open. Police observed the deadbolt was still extended and the door jam was split, according to the report. Two drawers were left open in a bedroom and a pillow case missing from a pillow in the bedroom. In addition, a multi-colored box and cardboard box that were on the floor of the closet had been removed in the master bedroom, which were usually kept on top of the upper shelf of the closet. In the master bedroom, two pillow cases were reported missing and one of the pillows was found on the floor, according to the report. Two drawers were also left open and items from those drawers were on the floor of the room. Two boxes that contained jewelry that were on top of one of the dressers was also found missing. Two sets of nurses’ flight wings and an antique dinner ring from 1920s were reported missing. Police are further investigating this incident.
