Blotter: Break-In, Theft at St. Pius X

The following information has been provided by the Marple Township Police Department. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

BROOMALL–On Aug. 13 at approximately 1 p.m., responded to for a reported burglar alarm. Upon arrival, police checked the perimeter of the school and discovered the first-floor window wide open.

According to the report, muddy footprints on the concrete window ledge were discovered. The window leads to the school’s library, according to the report. Once inside, police observed the only classroom door open in the hallway was the door to the library.

According to police, the hallway door to the library appeared to have been pried. There was fresh damage to the wood where the dead bolt comes out, stated police in the report. It appeared the person had left the same way through the library window, said police in the report.

A classroom chair by the window with muddy footprints were also discovered but nothing appeared to have been stolen, according to the report. Police are further investigating this incident.

Purse Stolen From Pew During Communion 

On Aug. 12 at approximately 6:20 p.m., police responded to for a reported theft. Police met with the complainant who told police that she had left her purse in the church pew as she went to receive communion and returned to the pew to discover the purse missing.

The woman described her purse as a cream-colored Steve Madden purse valued at approximately $150. The following items were in the purse at the time of the theft: two car keys, house keys, multiple credit cards, a driver’s license, $200, $60 check from her employer, $100 JC Penney’s gift card and a $40 Visa gift card.
