Blotter: Audi Headlights, $300 Gucci Sunglasses, BMX Bike Stolen, and More

BROOMALL–On Nov. 15 at approximately 7:54 p.m., Marple police responded to Walmart at the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Upon arrival, police met with the store asset protection officer who stated that a man had selected several sale items in the hardware department, walked into the stationary department and cut items out of their packaging with a small pair of wire cutters and placed them inside his coat pocket. The man then passed all the registers and exited the building without paying for any of those items. When police spoke with the man, the man admitted to the theft and said he had one prior retail theft that he had pled guilty to and a second retail theft still pending. The total amount of items stolen was valued at $80.99.

$300 Headlights Pried From Audi A4

On Nov. 15 at approximately 9:55 a.m., police received information about a reported theft from a vehicle in the parking lot of Marple Automotive, 2090 S. Sproul Road. An employee at the auto shop told police sometime overnight the headlights were pried out of an Audi A4, causing damage to the front end of the car. The tabs to bolt the headlight in to another car were broken off as well, according to the report. The headlights are valued at approximately $300.

Sewing Machine Stolen at Joann Fabrics

On Nov. 10 at approximately 9:50 a.m., police received a report from Joann Fabrics in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center that a Singer sewing machine was stolen from the store between the hours of 7:57 p.m. Thursday to 9:56 a.m. Friday. According to the report, the machine was still in the box. Police are further investigating this incident.

Bras, Panties, Shoes Stolen From T.J. Maxx

On Nov. 8 at approximately 12:30 p.m., police responded to the T.J. Maxx in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Upon arrival, police met with the loss prevention officer who told police she had one woman in custody for concealing $157.88 worth of various merchandise and leaving the store without paying for the items. According to the report, the woman had removed numerous bras, pairs of panties, and shoes and placed them in her large black purse. Further investigation reveals the woman had nine prior arrests for retail thefts and three reported convictions.

Purse Stolen at Kaplan Institute

On Nov. 7 at approximately 3:25 p.m., police responded to Kaplan Institute on 1991 S. Sproul Road for a reported theft. Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who told police she had left her purse outside while waiting for her ride and when she returned it was gone. The bag and wallet were valued at approximately $50. In addition, three debit cards, a PA driver’s license, $300 Gucci sunglasses, Kaplan ID, and a white and pink iPhone 4 were also reported stolen. A video surveillance shows another student from Media, pick up the woman’s purse and place it into her own backpack before leaving the area.

Bike Stolen in Front of Learning Express Toys

On Nov. 6 at approximately 8:50 p.m., police responded to Learning Express in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center for a reported theft. Upon arrival, the 15-year-old complainant told police that he had parked his off-white Haro BMX-style bike with a purple stem, black plastic seat and chrome spokes on the wheels in front of store. The teen was unable to locate the bike at that location.
