Blotter: DUI Arrests on Meadow Ln. and Church Rd.

DUI Arrest on Meadown Lane

On Aug. 28 at approximately 6 p.m., responded to Meadow Lane for a report of an intoxicated driver. Police were able to locate and stop the vehicle on Meadow Lane. Police observed a juvenile female in the passenger seat of the vehicle and an adult female in the driver's seat. According to the report, the 47-year-old woman from Drexel Hill told police she was dropping off her daughter to a party on Meadow Lane and was lost. Police detected an odor of alcohol coming from the woman and observed her speech to be slurred. A portable breathalyzer test was administered on the woman in which a 0.36 percent BAC was recorded. When police asked her if she was an alcoholic, the woman replied, "Yes." The woman was unable to succesfully recite the alphabet from A to Z. The woman was arrested on charges of DUI, Driving on Roadways Laned For Traffic, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

One-Vehicle Crash Leads to DUI Arrest

On Aug. 26 at approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to the area of 15 Church Road for a reported one-vehicle crash. Radnor police were on scene when Newtown police arrived on scene. According to the report, police spoke with the driver, a 26-year-old Newtown Square resident, who was involved in the crash. The man told police that a Ford Explorer traveling in the opposite direction on Church Road came over the double yellow line and forced him to swerve on the road. The man struck a fence on the property of 15 Church Road and parked his car a short distance up the road from the crash, according to the report. Police observed the man was unsteady on his feet, had a slight slur in his speech and detected an odor of alcohol coming from the man, according to the report. Police issued a portable breathalyzer test in which a 0.159 percent BAC was recorded. When police asked if the man had been drinking, the man responded, "Yes." The man failed the field sobriety test given by police. The man was arrested and charged with DUI.
