Blotter: Intoxicated Teen Attempts To Break-In Bedridden Neighbor's Home

The following information has been provided by the Newtown Township Police Department. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Sept. 13 at approximately 2:10 p.m., Newtown police responded to the 500 block of First Avenue for a reported burglary in process. The bed-ridden homeowner reported that someone was trying to enter his home home through the front door, according to the report.

Upon arrival, police observed a young female running around the front yard of the home next door to the complainant's home, according to the report. Police were able to detain the woman.

While speaking to the woman, police detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the woman, as she identified herself as a resident of the home next to the bedridden homeowner.

When police asked if she had been drinking, the woman responded that she had a few beers, according tot he report. When police asked how old she was, the woman said she was 18 years old.

Marple police also assisted Newtown police on scene, and identified three more underage drinkers on the rear patio of the woman’s home. Marple police located two women and one man with Miller Lite beer cans placed around the table, according to the report. All three also appeared to have been drinking, according to the report.

According to the report, the woman had apparently gotten confused on where the location of the house party was and may have tried entering the wrong home.

The one man refused a portable breathalyzer test but the three females submitted to a portable breathalyzer test, in which a BAC of 0.155 percent, 0.087 percent, and .048 percent were recorded.

The three women were released to their mothers who arrived to the home shortly after, according to the report. All four were cited for underage drinking.
