NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Jan. 6 at approximately 6 p.m., Newtown police responded to the unit block of Brookmawr Drive for a domestic fight between a father and son involving a knife.

Upon arrival, police met with the father who stated he just had a fight with his 19-year-old son. Police were able to locate the son downstairs in the basement, who appeared to be gasping for breath and seemed light-headed while asking for his inhaler, according to the report.

Police were able to stabilize the 19-year-old son at which time he told police that he was just involved in a physical altercation with his father. According to the report, the son stated that his father confronted him upstairs and grabbed him.

During the struggle, the son stated the father had over-powered him, striking him with a closed fist to the left side of his temple. The father then allegedly slammed the son into the kitchen counter.

At that time, according to the report, the son pulled a knife from the kitchen cutlery set, displaying it in hopes to end the assault by his father. The son told police the rest of the confrontation was a blur and he eventually fainted, according to the report.
