Blotter: Police Bust Underage Drinking Party on Horton

The following information has been provided by the Newtown Township Police Department. Any arrests or charges mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–On Dec. 14 at approximately 9:10 p.m., Newtown police received a phone call from an off-duty officer who told police that he received a tip that there was an underage drinking party in progress at a home on the 3400 block of Horton Road.

Police responded to the home as identified and observed several vehicles in front of the home, including several vehicles with Marple Newtown High School parking permits hanging from their rear view mirrors.

According to the report, police could see into the first floor of the home though a front window and did not observe any activity. As police walked to the rear of the home, police heard the back basement door slam shut and lock.

As police approached the door that was just shut, they observed several beer cans sitting on the ground outside, according to the report. When police shined their lights at the door, which was an all glass door, police observed several younger males and females inside, according to the report.

Police also observed several cases of beer sitting on a bar inside the home. Police directed the man that was standing just inside the door to unlock and open the door in which he complied.

According to the report, police entered the home and observed several more minors found in the basement, gathered around a pool table that had open and partially consumed beer cans on it.

Police notified all the minors’ parents and arranged for rides home.
