Blotter: Suspected Burglar Seen Entering Broomall Home, Fraud Charges Made in England, More

BROOMALL–On Nov. 28 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Marple police responded to the Delaware County Community College Security Office for a report of a counterfeit $20 bill. Police met with the security officer and the student who had tried to pass it at the cafeteria in Founder Hall. The student told police his mother gave him the bill, according to the report. When police called the mother, according to the report, the mother told police it came from their business, a martial arts studio in Upper Darby, and said she was unsure which customer had given the bill to her.

Candy Cane Lights Thrown Across Lawn 

On Nov. 28 at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to the 500 block of Portland Drive for a reported vandalism incident discovered. Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who told police that his Christmas candy cane lights were again removed the ground and thrown across his lawn. The homeowner told police he is uncertain who continues to do this but believes it may be juveniles that live in the area. 

Suspected Burglar Enters Home on Edgewood

On Nov. 26 at approximately 1:35 p.m., police received information from the Upper Providence Police Department that the Mongtomery County Major Crimes Unit was following a suspected burglar and had last seen him entering a home on Edgewood Road in Broomall. Police responded to Edgewood road and began checking the exterior of the houses and eventually locating a forced front door on the unit block of Edgewood Road. According to the report, it appeared as though someone had “shouldered” the front door in, splintering the doorframe and allowing entry into the home. 

$1,000 Fraudulent Charges Made to England Bike Shop

On Nov. 19 at approximately 11:05 a.m., a woman came into the police station to report that she received a phone call from CitiCard Security reporting more than $1,000 was charged on her CitiCard at a bicycle shop in England online. The purchase was declined and the card was canceled. The woman told police her last purchase made with that card was for soccer shoes on Nov. 7 from a website called soccershopusa.com.
