Blotter: Vehicle Stolen, DUI Arrest

The following information has been provided by the Newtown Township Police Department. Any charges or arrests mentioned do not indicate guilt or conviction.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–On May 20 at approximately 11:18 p.m., responded on 3592 West Chester Pike for a reported stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, police spoke with an employee of Don’s Mobil who told police that he parked, locked and activated all of the theft prevention measures on the truck and placed the keys inside the building at approximately 4:45 p.m, according to the incident report. At approximately 10:45 p.m., the man received a text message from his friend who was driving by the Mobil, asking if there was an accident because the flat bed was not in the parking lot, according to police. The employee proceeded to head over to the Mobil and discovered the truck missing. Police are further investigating this incident.

Police Arrest 23-year-old Norristown Woman For Charges of DUI

On May 27 at approximately 12 a.m., police was monitoring the intersection of West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Newtown Street Rd./Rt. 252 when police heard a loud crash and observed a group of vehicles traveling from Newtown Street Road into the eastbound lanes of West Chester Pike.

According to police, one of the vehicles drove over the concrete median separating the eastbound and westbound lanes of West Chester Pike. While traveling eastbound, police began following a white Chevy and observed it was unable to stay withing a single lane with half the vehicle on the shoulder of the highway, according to the report.

In addition, police stated in the report that the car began to drift back over the double yellow lines separating the left travel lanes of West Chester Pike, which occurred several times, according to police in the report.

Police stopped the vehicle on West Chester Pike and Media Line Road. Police were able to detect a strong odor of vehicle coming from the driver, Brittany Lee Hampton, 23, of Norristown, according to the report.

A breathalyzer test was administered on Hampton in which a blood alcohol content level of 0.204 percent was recorded. Police administered two field sobriety tests in which she both failed, according to the report. Hampton was arrested and charged for DUI and careless driving.
